Meet Our Directors

The studio is a collaborative partnership between directors Julie Mytka and Avery Brown. After both had worked in performing arts contracts all over Canada and internationally, they recognized the benefits of bringing music and dance training under one roof. Joining this duo is a dynamic group of professional instructors delivering engaging classes for students of all experience levels.

Julie Mytka

Julie Mytka is the Director and CEO of Sound in Motion, where she has fostered a vibrant and positive atmosphere for students of all ages and levels since the studio’s opening in 2010.

After her graduation from the Dance Performance program at Toronto Metropolitan University, Julie embarked on a dance career that blended performance and education.

Avery Brown

Avery Brown is co-owner and the director of the music department at Sound In Motion. 

Avery’s philosophy on music education was inspired from his youth, where he was afforded a deep and varied musical experience. Classical piano and choir were his introduction to musical discipline and it felt like home.

Meet Our Instructors

Lexi Bailey

Lexi Bailey is a former competitive dancer of 14 years, born and raised in London. Growing up, Lexi spent most of her spare time teaching friends dance tricks, participating in dance clubs and talent shows. With a passion for helping others, Lexi attended Fanshawe College and achieved a Certificate in Human Services, and a Diploma for Developmental Service Work. Her dream is to be an elementary school teacher and plans to attend teachers college after completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Justice and Peace Studies at Kings.

In her free time now, Lexi explores her love for the arts through painting, crafting and learning calisthenics! Lexi is currently in her second year of taking adult classes at Sound in Motion since her passion for dance has never faded and she has thrived learning new tricks and retraining forgotten steps!

Meghan Byloo

Meghan Byloo is an administrator and dance instructor at Sound In Motion. She is currently attending Western University working towards a degree in History and Dance. Meghan has always had a love for dance since she was a child and loves being able to teach dancers as they find their own joy in the art form. She has trained as a dancer with Sound In Motion for 10+ years, some in our Company performance group! She teaches classes in Mini Stars, Ballet, Jazz, Acro and Lyrical. She is always ready to welcome you into our wonderful studio from behind the desk and in class.

Nayli Deleon Kantule

Nayli DeLeon Kantule has called Sound in Motion her second home since she was just six years old, and began teaching there in 2021. She has trained in a large variety of dance styles, and is always trying new things and expanding her dance vocabulary. She is currently studying at Western University, and plans to graduate in 2027 with a music performance degree with a minor in dance. Nayli is so thankful for her Sound in Motion community, and is always excited to continue sharing her passion and love for dance through teaching!

Andrea Gu Cao

Andrea is a passionate and dedicated music educator. Having studied classical piano and violin at the age of 12, Andrea has since gotten her RCM teachers certification under the Royal Conservatory of Music and is currently honing her skills to develop a deeper understanding of music theory and pedagogy through her studies at the University of Western Ontario. Andrea has received many scholarships and awards including the Warner Music Canada Award and Eddy Wallman Piano Scholarship for her exemplary performance potential and strong academic standing.

Believing that music education should be both enriching and enjoyable, Andrea is committed to creating a supportive and nurturing learning environment so that her students may reach their full potential as musicians and lifelong learners.

Madason Hale

Madason been dancing since the age of three, and it has been a lifelong passion ever since. She has called Sound in Motion her ‘second home’ since 2012, and is now delighted to teach and share her love for dance within the same studio. While her favourite styles are Jazz and Acro because of their energy and creativity, what she loves most about teaching is watching her young dancers grow and find joy in their progress. She finds the relationships she builds with students incredibly rewarding, and enjoys passing on that love for dance to future generations.

Currently, Madason is a student at Western University, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Dance. She is excited to be continuing her dance education and making meaningful contributions to the dance community both at Sound in Motion and in London.

Maya Hall-Hinds

Maya Hall-Hinds has been dancing since she was 3 and has been a dance instructor with Sound in Motion Studio since 2021. She has trained with Sound in Motion, for the past 10 years in Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Acro, Ballet, and Pointe. She is a recent graduate of H.B. Beal Secondary where she also trained in Ballet, Jazz, and Modern. Maya is so grateful to be a part of the amazing Sound in Motion team, sharing her passion of dance with students by teaching and choreographing!

Sing Yuan Liew

Sing Yuan has years of music teaching experience and is passionate in sharing her musical knowledge and experience to students of all ages. As an avid performer, Sing Yuan often appears as a pianist on stage in both solo and chamber settings across Malaysia and North America. She has also worked with different instrumentalists, vocalists and choirs as a collaborative pianist. Sing Yuan is currently working on her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Western University, London, Ontario.

Aly McKone

Aly started dancing in 2011 at Sound in Motion, until her graduating year in 2019. Since then, Aly has taught classes of all ages and dance styles including Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Tap. Aly received her Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Intermediate Certification in 2019, and her Honours Specialization in Kinesiology with a Minor in Dance from Western University in 2023. She integrates her knowledge of human anatomy and movement bio-mechanics into her dance curriculum.

Aly works closely with Sound in Motion’s Company Program as a choreographer, and has built a strong foundation in the art of choreography and composition through her studies at Western. Aly aims to inspire dancers of all ages to find purpose and inspiration through the art of dance.

Connor McPhail

Connor McPhail is a dancer born and raised in London, Ontario. In grade six he attended Lester B Pearson School for the Arts where he discovered a love for breakdancing at the age of thirteen. He started training in classical dance styles within two years at local dance studios. He competed in various dance disciplines in dance competitions all over Ontario. Eventually he began training, battling, and performing with Ill at Will dance crew, and has competed in and won many breakdancing battles throughout Ontario.

Connor is a trained professional dancer and is a graduate of the School of the Toronto Dance Theatre. He is specifically interested in improvisation and the principles of momentum shared between all forms of movement. Connor is inspired by the idea of fusing different elements of capoeira, acrobatics, breakdancing, and martial arts into unique dynamic movement and is eager to pass on this love of movement to his students.

Reegan Ruddock

Reegan Ruddock has been dancing since she was 4 years old, and has been a part of the incredible Sound in Motion family since the studio opened. Outside of teaching, she is in the Class of 2026, studying Medical Sciences alongside dance courses at Western University. She is grateful to be able to share her passion with others through teaching and choreography!

Maya Skocir

Maya Skocir began dancing at Sound in Motion in 2012, and fell in love with the art of dance after her very first Jazz class. After training with Sound in Motion for almost 10 years in Jazz, Lyrical, Acro, Ballet and Pointe, Maya was excited to be given the opportunity to become an instructor in 2021. Maya has enjoyed being apart of the Sound in Motion team and loves watching young dancers discover their own passion for dance. Her goal as a dance instructor is to inspire the next generation of dancers, just as her own dance teachers did for her!

Bizz Varty

Bizz Varty (she/her) is a dance artist, movement educator, and producer from London, Ontario. She is fascinated by nature and all the creatures within it. Her work is often inspired by her hometown’s urban wilderness and lively music.

Bizz has been teaching for more than 25 years, beginning at the studio where she trained, Laurie-Ann’s School of Dance. She has taught many styles of Western dance including Modern, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, and Contemporary to students aged 1 to 90. She is also a certified teacher of yoga and Pilates, with a focus on therapeutic movement.

Bizz has created choreography for dancers of all ages and abilities, and is currently exploring the possibilities of disabled dance. Her work has been presented in venues across the province, including Peterborough’s emergency festival and Toronto’s Bazaar dance festival. She has performed and collaborated with La Compagnie de Danse, Dreamwalker Dance, and London Arts Live. She was the Dance Artist-in-Residence at over a dozen schools and several museums in the London region from 2012-2017.

In 2017, Bizz founded the Centre of Movement Arts, presenter of the annual London Dance Festival. Bizz received her BFA in Dance from York University, and studied Arts Management at Humber College. She is an occasional vocalist with the Family Business Band, and the mother of two young children.
