005.2.0.jpgJulie Mytka combines her depth of knowledge of the technical elements of dance with a passion for creating an exciting learning atmosphere.

As a graduate of Ryerson University’s Dance Performance Program and a candidate for ballet teaching certification with the Royal Academy of Dance (graduating January 2016), Julie has a wealth of understanding in the method and progression of teaching dance. Her experience in teaching is matched with her time onstage as a performer and through these experiences Julie provides her students with engaging and meaningful connections to dance and theatre.

Some highlights from Julie’s performance career include touring internationally with renowned Canadian Magician Richard Forget (Canada, USA and China); dancing in the historic Diamond Tooth Gertie’s (Dawson City, Yukon); performing in musicals such as West Side Story (The Grand Theatre, London ON –inaugural high school project), Guys and Dolls and Sweet Charity (London Musical Theatre), multiple Fringe Festival engagements in Toronto, ON and Halifax, NS;  and improve theatre with Shadow Productions (Calgary, AB.)

As owner and director of Sound in Motion, alongside her partner in life and business, Avery Brown, Julie is delighted to inspire the next generation of performers. She believes that training in the performing arts goes beyond the skills acquired for stage. The benefits include improved self-esteem and confidence, decreased stress, better cognitive function and creative problem solving skills. These are truly the attributes of successful people and Julie is dedicated to providing all of her students with these abilities that will benefit them for life!
